the immune system
Stephanie Forrest et al were inspired by biological immune systems.
- A biological immune system doesn’t have a catalog of all viruses that exist in the world
- They have a strong sense of “self”, allowing them to identify and attack non-self entities
Is the same thing possible on the computer?
Motivation: UNIX processes; there is a well-known and easy technique for getting almost any buggy program to execute arbitrary code by just sending it carefully!
