damroll maxes

Found a line in fight.c: dam = MIN(dam, 100) that clearly makes the game
ensure that 100 is the max damage... BUT... whenever I make a mob that has
anything over like 130 bare handed damage, the game won't accept it. It
shows up in stat as a negative number. Where is that getting set in the
code? I assume it IS changeable, and I would really like to do so.
Ideas?
