I have a question for those out there who really know how Unix operates on a low level. If I made a directory that had literally tens of thousands of files in it, how much more slowly would the seek time to those files be? (Compared to a directory with only a few files in it.) If it makes any difference, the system I'm using is System V version 4. Cheers. -Dana
