Alias saving question

I guess it is time for my stupid question for the day.

I followed the alias.txt instructions to add alias saving to pl11, and 
now when I try to compile the code I get this:

make[1]: *** No rule to make target `gcc', needed by `alias.o'.  Stop.

I added the alias.o to the objfiles, and the 
 alias.o : alias.c structs.h utils.h interpreter.h
           $(CC) -c $(CFLAGS) alias.c

Help?
