Anyways, I found out what the problem was and I will share with you all becuase it might prove helpful for someone out there. The mud is running on a linux system and whenever I would disconnect or be disconnected from the account on which the mud was running (I'm not talking about logging out, but actually having the connection to the account broken). After an hour or so the machine would send a signal to logout any idle accounts which the mud would then interrpret as an order to shutdown. Does that make sense?
