Two suggestions: 1) Try LOADLIN. If you can't get a kernel image (vmlinuz, bzimage, etc.) or whatnot, try method #2. 2) Get the original bootdisk you used to start the linux installation. Boot from that floppy and when it gives you the initial prompt, mount your drive as root and see if your system loads up. If all else fails, purge and reinstall linux. :) _,.-=~'`^`'~=-.,_,.-=~'`^`'~=-.,__,.-=~'`^`'~=-.,_,.-=~'`^`'~=-.,_ / . . . mail: Hash [hash@cyberverse.com] . . \ | . . www: http://www.cyberverse.com/~hash . | \ . . . . . irc: Hsh . . . . . . / \ TIP#939 . . . . . . . .Nick C. / ^'~=-.,__,.-=~'`^`'~=-.,_,.-=~'`^`'~=-.,_,.-=~'`^`'~=-.,__,.-=~'^ +-----------------------------------------------------------+ | Ensure that you have read the CircleMUD Mailing List FAQ: | | http://cspo.queensu.ca/~fletcher/Circle/list_faq.html | +-----------------------------------------------------------+ From cat@vuse.vanderbilt.edu Wed, 28 Aug 96 12:46:01 -0500 X-SystemInfo: MyE-Mail: EMail X-ReplyTo-No: 4130 (There are no more replies.) This usually fixes any non hardware failures on most UNIXes with minnimal or no data loss.
