One is the development list, which has the purpose of what we are doing now. The next is the announce list, which gets a lot less traffic and only has notes on announcements from people about things relating to the product. The third is the digest list, which once a day compiles all the messages sent to the development list for that day, bunches them up into one tidy neat message, and then sends that out. Most of us on this list probably don't care about just being on an announce list (at least this is my guess), but many might prefer a digest if the mail is getting to be too much to keep track of. I just use procmail to filter my mail, myself, but some people may not have that option.
