I thought this was unmoderated!? :) (j/k) Unmoderated or not, something needs to be done about how many times it's been necessary to say, "Read the faq". IMO, it is a bit more than annoying seeing that said every week (or with more/less frequency depending upon how much the "evil" pagan gods want to punish us). In my mind, the mailing list exists for discussion on CircleMUD (ideas, code, etc.) and for to offer the occassional helping hand. Sadly, very little of the former exists or is rather hidden amongst a mass of the latter. So, in comes the faq and we contribute to it, hoping to eliminate at least a small portion of the problems on the list by presenting the most commonly (and annoyingly) asked and previously answered questions. Guess what?! Not a single damn newbie to the list reads the thing, then they ask the *EXACT* same questions and some people that haven't read the faq or just don't feel like saying, "Read the faq," provide answers and it evolves into a thread. Tell me that we aren't wasting our time and space in our mail boxes by people not looking at the existing resources, offer the proof. I mean, do these people *really* think they are the first person ever to want to add levels to their mud? To ever ask that question? A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, this was a valid question, but after having been answered 1000s of times, I'd rather see it retire after all that time.
