OK, i just downloaded circle30bpl12 frop ftp.circlemud.org, and compiled it without making any modifications at all (not even config.c). My problem is: anyony with a character name with greater than 5 letters, can login NO MATTER WHAT PASSWORD they use. i made a character "Quinthius", and i could login with him, even if the password was incorrect. i made "Quinthius", "Quinthiu", "Quinthi", etc, all the way down to "Quin". I have also made a character named "James". the names with a larger length let you login even when you type the password wrong (which is a bad thing, because my imp name is Quinthius, so anyone can login as the imp) but James, and Quin, and Quint (and i THINK Quinth), all tell you that you got the password wrong when you in fact do. Any ideas on what tho problem could be? My system is: FreeBSD 2.2.5, 32M RAM this is circlemud30 beta pl 12 it seems that anyone with a name of over 5 chars (or 6, i forget which), seem to have this problem. -Quinthius +------------------------------------------------------------+ | Ensure that you have read the CircleMUD Mailing List FAQ: | | http://democracy.queensu.ca/~fletcher/Circle/list-faq.html | +------------------------------------------------------------+
