Emacs clients will have this feature, too.
In fact, it is even better - switch from the input buffer to
the output buffer, put a command in the kill ring, go back to
input buffer, yank it and modify as needed.
Useful for really long commands (or people with really long,
annoying names, like MarketSquareHero! ;)
