Argh, but id numbers only get assigned to new players, not to everyone that logs in. And even if they weren't, and you got 10000 connections per day for a full year (yah, right) it'd still take 6 centuries to run out of id numbers. That situation is completely ludicrous though, because it disregards the fact that id numbers are assigned only to new characters, and assumes your MUD will be up 24 hours a day for a full year. Also, as for that "100 players average" per day: I doubt it. Which is not to say that I don't think the MUD can get 100 players online at the same time. But, to get the average number of users in a day, you'd get the number of players online every hour for a full day, divided by 24 (hours in a day). Even if from 6p-12a they had 100 players online give or take a few, unless they have a lot of international, dedicated, or simply unemployed users, 1a-9p is going to be pretty barren, and 10p-5p probably won't reach 100. With a generous allowance of players in these off-times (10 throughout the entire 8 hour period following midnight; and 30 during normal work/school hours) you still have about an average of 38 players per day. -dak +------------------------------------------------------------+ | Ensure that you have read the CircleMUD Mailing List FAQ: | | http://democracy.queensu.ca/~fletcher/Circle/list-faq.html | +------------------------------------------------------------+
