Since a number of people have trouble adjusting to the new bzip2 format I'm using, I have set up my FTP daemon to automatically convert the files for you. This will work _only_ on ftp.van.ml.org. Log in as 'anonymous' or 'ftp' (I use 'ftp', it's shorter.) and change to the '/pub/greerga/CircleMUD/OasisOLC' directory. 'cd oasis' will suffice. Then if the file you want is 'OasisOLCv1.6b-bpl12.patch.bz2,' you type 'get OasisOLCv1.6b-bpl12.patch' or even 'get OasisOLCv1.6b-bpl12.patch.gz' Currently it supports conversion both to and from bzip2 and gzip, but not directly from bzip2 to gzip or vice versa. (I have yet to figure out how to make it pipe one to the other in the 'ftpconversions' file. If anyone knows, drop me a line.) So now if I drop a 463k patch on my web site, you can download the bzip2 (or gzip) version from my FTP site without even having to ask me to compress it. This is Circle related in that it will save my time answering e-mails asking about it. Although in practice I'll get mailed anyway... -- George Greer - Me@Null.net | Genius may have its limitations, but stupidity http://www.van.ml.org/~greerga | is not thus handicapped. -- Elbert Hubbard +------------------------------------------------------------+ | Ensure that you have read the CircleMUD Mailing List FAQ: | | http://democracy.queensu.ca/~fletcher/Circle/list-faq.html | +------------------------------------------------------------+
