[Newbie] scan_file crashes MUD (Yipes!)

Turns out it does the same thing when loading the banfile! I commented the
mail stuff in db.c, and it did it with the banfile. ANy ideas?

PS: I also recently upgraded to bpl14, and I had to handpatch it. Maybe this
is part of the problem.
