Talk to Daniel Koepke, he was playing around with such a thing on his mock
talker program a while back. I don't remember if he had screen centering,
but there were a lot of flashy, impressive-looking status messages about
the ANSI state printed.
Unfortunately, he still doesn't have a web site up. :P
