Yep know him, he's a former player of the mud I code, and a few muds I know of, he generally annoys everyone. From what I know of the code he did he had a few ppl helping him, but they gave up as he changes the server way too regularly. I'd not be overly concerned, if it don't compile on his server then he'll give up, eg if it's got the socket bound to a particular ip number. Certainly my mud is because there's about 3 other muds using the same port number on it :) The question of password is a case of he was given it, or he guessed it (but that depends on the quality of the password used, and that you're not foolish enough to use the same password for the shell account as you're mud password (especially if you're mud passwords are cleartext, even if they're not it's possible to crack a player password if you can get it's crypted version.) > surgeon ttyp2 24.69.120.254.bc Fri Jul 28 15:39 - 15:46 (00:07) > surgeon ttyp2 24.69.120.254.bc Fri Jul 28 15:37 - 15:39 (00:01) > surgeon ftpd8769 24.69.120.254.bc Fri Jul 28 15:37 - 15:46 (00:09) > surgeon ttyp2 24.69.120.254.bc Fri Jul 28 15:25 - 15:25 (00:00) > I am contacting the server admin, of wintermute.legions.org the server inwhich i run on, his access was illegal as I assured him he was no longer to be allowed on the server and gave him fair warning, wondering why that ftpd8769 is there well here's the clueless ones commands from the command prompt. *.bash_history* helps. You should always change password on a coder change. > now lets see if they match up - hmmm... > [ 4] [ 1 Wa] Hanz : 24.69.120.254.bc.wave.home.com : Thu Jul 27 17:45:40 2000 yep that's his isp. > surgeon ttyp2 24.69.120.254.bc Fri Jul 28 15:39 - 15:46 (00:07) > surgeon ttyp2 24.69.120.254.bc Fri Jul 28 15:37 - 15:39 (00:01) > surgeon ftpd8769 24.69.120.254.bc Fri Jul 28 15:37 - 15:46 (00:09) > surgeon ttyp2 24.69.120.254.bc Fri Jul 28 15:25 - 15:25 (00:00) > - static ip?
