[CODE]Escape Characters

I am trying to implement new races in my mud and one of them will be
Half-Elf.
In the code I stuck with HALFELF to use there but in the lists and such
i want it to
show to the players as Half-Elf. The question i'm getting at is do I
need to escape "-"
in between the two words. I is inside "" (quotes) so i'm guessing not
but my knowlege
of C is useless(and thats if your optomistic). I was just wondering if
someone could
take the time to answer my small question.
