As for transfering files you can use secure copy (scp) (unless the server
does not have secure shell (ssh) installed, which would be odd), or FTP
(assuming you can FTP to your home directory).

The best ssh client for windows I've seen so far is PuTTY, and pscp (the
PuTTY version of scp) works well in my experience.  Do a Google search on
'putty' and the first hit should be the PuTTY website.
