Yes, full filesystems in AIX have caused many similar problems. Good ones to check regularly are /, /tmp, /var. Make sure there's enough paging space(normally 2:1 or 3:1 ratio with Memory installed) as well. To elaborate on cleaning out /var, look at the following: /var/preserve - old data files /var/tmp - More temp space /var/adm - Check file sizes in here. Contains log data. /var/spool/lpd/qdir - Stop, clean out, then start queue system again. /var/spool/lpd/stat - same as above. Print job info. (Other directories under /var/spool are fair game too, proceed with caution) Briefly,can also try using a recursive "find" command with "-size" flag to find large files.
