<bunch of stuff about a ship obj> you are thinking too much like a player. just make a room with the title of "ship" or something, dress it up correctly, and then make a SPEC that links it to the dock room, and send messages to appropriate times. I have even seen this implemented as a series of teleport rooms each displaying a different part of the journey. You don't need to move an obj through different rooms, you just need to change the way a room is linked, or move the char's through a series of ship rooms.....
