I think part of my problem is that my libc is version 5.2.something.  I'd
like to be using 5.4.33, but i'm somewhat baffled as to how to upgrade.
When I got the full libc-5.4.33, the file structure it was tarred up in
looked radically different from anything I found to do with libc on my
current system.  Anyone feeling saintly enough to help my linux-impaired
self?
