Ok, now for my lovely idea on maps. Last time I checked, wasn't mapping things the players job? I am the guy who has always beleived in making the game a realistic as possible without pissing things off too much. I think giving them maps would just make a MUDder even more lazy(I don't like the sound of that). Yes, I have played muds solely as a player for about 3 years. Found a good little mud that was semi-realistic, and liked it to an extent. The things I enjoyed about it were: a) A realistic approach to stats (hit/dam/hp/etc). Nothing like a damroll of 50. b) You couldn't see your scores. They gave text descripts for your stats, ie You have the strength of a mage! c) You had to THINK in the game. Areas were exciting and fun to map. Notice that third one. What fun is it to know what lies ahead with a crazy map. The exit and scan commands are good enough for that. Sorry if I bored you or misunderstood the whole map thing. +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-++-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ | Chuck Reed | Ash of Dark Horizon | | creed@i-55.com | dh.gator.net 6000 | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-++-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ "Losers always whine about their best while the winner goes home and fucks the prom queen." -Sean Connery +------------------------------------------------------------+ | Ensure that you have read the CircleMUD Mailing List FAQ: | | http://democracy.queensu.ca/~fletcher/Circle/list-faq.html | +------------------------------------------------------------+
