Hi, Know what ya mean, just log in al Imp and type 'slowns' (slow name- server, which is your prob.). This will make the MUD not want to look up ip adresses and eliminate your problem. You can also try to set the resolving of the system your MUD runs on to a faster, more reliable nameserver. (On unix this will be /etc/resolv.conf) Or for the real hero, set up a caching-only DNS on your MUD's machine and resolve via that one. I'm getting some problems with lag that gethostbyaddr function causes when the player is logging on the mud. My doubt is: is there a way to make gethostbyaddr runs in the background? I have saw it on a mud but I have no ideia how to make this... If somebody don't understand what I'm trying to say, please let me know... I'm so bad of writing in english... :^) -- Best regards, Marcelus +------------------------------------------------------------+ | Ensure that you have read the CircleMUD Mailing List FAQ: | | http://qsilver.queensu.ca/~fletchra/Circle/list-faq.html | +------------------------------------------------------------+ +------------------------------------------------------------+ | Ensure that you have read the CircleMUD Mailing List FAQ: | | http://qsilver.queensu.ca/~fletchra/Circle/list-faq.html | +------------------------------------------------------------+
