One thing to note; if you're multiplexing the connection (er.. sharing one internet connection among many machines) via a software or dumb hub, it's very likely that only one machine is fully exposed to the internet (depending on how you set it up, and which software/hardware you're using). If your dad was smart enough to set up the network (I believe that's who you said did it?) then you should ask him to make sure that those ports are open for you from external sites.
