First: Don't send HTML messages. level_exp leaves wide room for improvement. many people end up changing this things themselves. others release patches. i think redoing these classifies as a "good thing". -B. Does anybody know the whereabouts of any reference at all to such a system? Even one based on ROM or any other Diku-based MUD might be of help, seeing as they share similar aspects. > > On another random note: > > I was wondering if anybody else feels that the stock level_exp isn't all that great. It seems like sometimes it is semi-parabolic, other times it is linear, and yet other times it is damn near random. I've already replaced it with a much simpler system using a few formulas based on level (and in the process rendered close to 400 lines of CASE statements unnecessary [105 lvl mud, 100 mortal]), simply because it just seemed really wasteful to me. Whats everybody else's take on this one? > > - Scott Bowden > > P.S. I also got rid of another 5000+ lines of CASE's by recoding the Saving Throws and Thac0 tables via formulas. [12 classes].
