Well, we have made it so chars are transported to this one room which controls who are in the wilderness and who are not. Then I have a flag which is set both for chars and for mobiles who enter the wilderness. Then, two int's called "x" and "y", and one called "map". Also, we have done an ASCII grid with numbers, and a code that translates all the numbers to ascii chars. The "x" and "y" int's changes as the char moves on the grid, and the "map" int is changed when chars go from the normal ground-map to the sky-map, underground-map, even changes when they move from continent to continent. Well, there are some guidelines. Hope they help.
