I have created something similar, skillgroups. Each skill and spell belongs to one or several skillgroups. Each class has it's own specific skillgroup. Then, if for example a priest wishes to learn a skill that lies under the ranger skillgroup, he or she has to study the skillgroup of the rangers until they recieve enough skill in it to be tought the skill.
